Thinking about Stargate Atlantis

June 4, 2006

As I read more Stargate Atlantis fanfic, I grew more nostalgic for it. So I started watching a few episodes of it … you know, season 1 rocked. But season 2 … it left me rather bored. Some episodes do stand out – like Conversion, Instinct, Runner and the last two episodes of the season … but a lot of them were quite lame fillers. The much-anticipated Epiphany was a big dissapointment because of the lack of Sheppard development.

I hope Season 3 is better somehow.

And you know what …? I'm starting to itch to write Stargate Atlantis fanfic. ;) I usually write fanfic only when the fanfic I read does not meet my needs – like, not enough Wesley fanfic in Angel fanfic universe for one. But Atlantis? Those guys are just so fanfic-able. ;) Gee, I made a new word …

1st post here sorta

I've shifted from my own domain to here because I realise it's just not worth paying $ when you update once in a very blue moon.

I chose a blog to host my stories because it's just easier. ;) I'm too lazy to write my own code and I think wordpress.com looks pro and it's easy to use. ;)

CSI Miami – Enough with the slow mo!

CSI Miami
Ep4x02: Blood in the Water

csimiami10000.jpgI was really looking forward to this season. But what I’ve seen in the first two episodes has not been encouraging.

To me, the first episode, From the Grave, was like – MEH. Horatio suddenly has a problem with shooting criminals? Weird! Dipping his hands into blood? Super weird! Especially for a CSI!

This episode was better. The teaser in the beggining was dramatic, though I honestly wondered what in the world happened to the daughter and what could’ve produced so much of blood!

I wasn’t that bothered by the plot which I thought was intriguing – the confamily, what a concept. I was more bothered with how silly the CSIs were acting, particularly Horatio.

Has melodrama become the key word for CSI Miami now? We have slo-mos now, with CSIs walking around in dramatic fashion (usually in a straight line, you know like cowboys walking into town), salon-blowed hair billowing in the Florida breeze. Horatio’s posing and darkglasses fixation was enough, so this?? Way too much, guys!

Seriously, let up on the dramatics already! Let the CSIs behave like REAL people, for goodness sakes.

Calleigh continues to be a cold fish – seriously, someone give her a personality.

Ryan remains the most interesting to me, though this supposed tension between Eric and him is not played well. I mean, if you have ‘tension’ with a colleague, why are you still chumming and laughing around? Then suddenly, you’re spitting at each other and starring daggers into each other’s brains. I wish they could be more consistent with these two’s interactions.

All I can say is, CSI Miami better buck up in this department. Sure, forensic and mystery wise they still have it, but the characters are starting to SERIOUSLY annoy me.

The 4400: Hot, mushy love

June 4, 2005

4400a0000.jpg

This episode, “Life Interrupted”, made me go “Awwww”. And this coming from a person who usually gets bored with romantic shows.

Tom wakes up one day to find his entire world changed. His son was never in a coma, Sean was never in a cult, and he is married to another woman, Alana! Better, there is no such thing as The 4400, thus no mission from future humans to carry out. What the heck is going on?

Expertly, the writers weave in romance, mystery, sci-fi in a nice little package. It kept me guessing all the way (though I did suspect Alana). The fact that Tom could have some happiness – albeit a ‘brief’ one – gave me some comfort, because the writers are hinting of dark times ahead. Poor man. Poor Kyle!

I’m just so glad that the writers didn’t push the reset button. When Tom called out to Alana towards the end, I half-expected her to say, “Who are you?” Phew! Thank goodness it didn’t happen. Though, I thought it really weird that you’ve just walked out of your made-up reality; surely you’d be frantically trying to find your (dream) hubby instead of walking nonchalantly out of the building he works in?

So, will Alana make a more frequent appearance? Hope so – because the future folks seem to want her to be there with Tom during the upcoming crisis, whatever it is. And can Alana affect reality once again?

TVSquad has a nice recap as usual.
